RWTH Aachen UniversityProfessor Dr.-Ing. habil. Ercan Altinsoy, born in 1974 in Turkey, is a distinguished expert in acoustic and haptic engineering at the Technical University of Dresden. His academic journey began with mechanical engineering studies at the Technical University of Istanbul, followed by a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Ruhr-University Bochum in 2005, where he focused on auditory-tactile interaction in virtual environments. His professional experience includes work as an NVH project engineer at HEAD acoustics before joining TU Dresden in 2006, where he became the leader of the chair of acoustic and haptic engineering in 2016. His research focuses on perception-based engineering, encompassing haptic interfaces, audio-tactile interaction, vibroacoustics, whole-body vibrations, and product sound design. His expertise has earned him notable recognition, including the Lothar-Cremer medal from the German Acoustical Society and a Visiting Professorship at Tohoku University, Japan in 2018. As a founding member of 5G Lab Germany and core team member of the Centre for Tactile Internet with Human-in-the-Loop, he leads innovative research in multimodal interaction systems and haptic feedback technologies.
