Emily Welsh

Emily Welsh serves as an Educational Technologist in MIT's Department of Mechanical Engineering, where she specializes in developing innovative digital learning tools and online course content. After earning her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, she gained valuable industry experience as a Sustaining Engineer before transitioning to educational technology. Her expertise spans manufacturing equipment, augmented reality and virtual reality learning applications, and digital education research. As Program Manager for the Principles of Manufacturing MicroMasters program, she plays a crucial role in advancing manufacturing education through technology-enhanced learning. Her research interests include 3D printing, design for manufacturing, and applying technology to improve people's lives. Welsh collaborates with MIT faculty to develop and implement online courses while focusing on creating effective digital education tools that enhance the learning experience for MIT students.
