Emily Moore is the Director of Research and Accessibility for the PhET Interactive Simulations project at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she leads research on simulation design, student engagement, and learning outcomes with simulations. She spearheads efforts to enhance the accessibility of PhET simulations by advancing multimodal designs, including alternative input methods, auditory descriptions, and sonification, to make these tools accessible to students with visual or mobility impairments, culminating in the release of PhET’s first simulations for blind students. Dr. Moore has authored 30 scholarly publications in science education, educational technology, and accessibility and has directed teacher professional development videos. She collaborates with K-12 teachers and higher education faculty to co-design classroom activities, which are available through the PhET website.
