Dartmouth CollegeEllison "Ellie" McNutt serves as Assistant Professor of Instruction in Biomedical Sciences at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her academic credentials include a BS in Biochemistry from Iowa State University (2013), an MA in Biological Anthropology from Boston University (2015), and a PhD from Dartmouth College's Ecology, Evolution, Ecosystems, and Society Program. Her research focuses on the evolution of bipedal locomotion and bone development in early human ancestors, using functional morphology, biomechanics, and 3D surface analyses to understand changes in foot architecture. Her fieldwork primarily takes place in Eastern and South Africa, studying Miocene hominoids and Plio-Pleistocene hominins. Through her work, she contributes to our understanding of human evolution while maintaining a commitment to science education and public outreach.
