Dr. Elaine Webster serves as Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Associate Dean for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Through her Coursera course "Human Rights-based Approach to Dignity in Care (DIGNISPACE)," she helps healthcare professionals understand dignity-centered care using human rights principles. Her academic credentials include an LLB in Law and French from the University of Glasgow, an MA in International Politics from Université Libre de Bruxelles, an MA in Human Rights and Democratisation from the European Inter-University Centre, and a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh. Her research focuses on human rights interpretation, particularly in environmental governance, the prohibition of torture, and human dignity in healthcare. As module leader for Human Rights Law in Theory and Practice, she combines theoretical frameworks with practical applications. Her current work includes leading the UKRI-funded One Ocean Hub project and developing the Strathclyde Centre for Doctoral Training in Human Rights-based Decision-Making.
