Professor at Osaka University
Eiichiro Fukusaki is a Professor at the Department of Biotechnology, Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University. He began his career in 1985 after receiving his master's degree from Osaka University, joining Nitto Denko Co., where he worked for a decade before returning to academia. He earned his Ph.D. from Osaka University in 1993 while employed at the company.As the head of the Metabolomics Lab, Professor Fukusaki has published over 200 technical articles, book chapters, and reviews and holds 17 Japanese and eight international patents. His research focuses on metabolomics, particularly in relation to food loss and its applications in pharmaceuticals and medicine. He actively collaborates with around 30 academic institutions and industrial partners to advance analytical techniques in metabolomics. In recognition of his contributions to biotechnology, he received the "Saito Award" from the Society of Biotechnology of Japan in 2004.
