Dries Van Thourhout

Dries Van Thourhout is a Professor in the Photonics Research Group at the Department of Information Technology at Ghent University, Belgium. He has been a prominent figure in the field of integrated photonics since joining the university in 2002, where he has focused on the design, fabrication, and characterization of silicon nanophotonic devices. His research interests include integrating novel materials such as III-V compounds, graphene, and quantum dots onto silicon waveguides to enhance their functionality for applications in telecommunications, datacom, optical interconnects, and sensing.
