The Hong Kong Polytechnic UniversityDr. Yi-Teng Shih serves as an Assistant Professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University's School of Design, bringing extensive expertise in both academic research and industry practice. His academic credentials include a PhD from the University of Newcastle, Australia, where he earned both a postgraduate research prize in design and the AIB chapter president's research award. His professional portfolio spans consumer electronics to healthcare devices, collaborating with prominent companies like Brookstone, RadioShack, beurer, FORA, and JustHerb. Under his supervision, design projects have garnered over 60 international design awards and secured twelve patents, including prestigious recognitions such as the Reddot concept design award, IDEA award, A' DESIGN award, European product design award, and IDA design award. His research focuses on design cognition, design media, and design education, with significant contributions to academic literature through journal articles and book chapters in publications like Design Studies. At PolyU, he teaches courses in Integrated Capstone Project, Brand and Process, Toy Design, and Design Thinking, while maintaining strong industry-university collaborations. His expertise in design education is further enhanced by his PGCHE in Higher Education from the University of Nottingham, UK, allowing him to effectively bridge the gap between academic theory and practical industry applications in design innovation.
