IISC BangaloreDr. Uttam Pal is an Assistant Professor in the Biomedical Engineering stream at IIITDM Kancheepuram, Chennai. He holds a Ph.D. from IISc Bangalore, where he developed novel multimodal cancer diagnostic systems using optical, thermal, and acoustic modalities. He completed his M.Tech from IIT Bombay, specialising in computational electromagnetics. With over 8 years of industry experience, he has worked as Team Lead (High-Frequency Electromagnetics) at COMSOL Multiphysics, as well as in roles at Evalueserve and De Core Science and Technologies. His research focuses on developing advanced optical tools for intraoperative cancer margin assessment and early disease diagnosis, particularly for breast and oral cancer.
