Hamad Bin Khalifa UniversityDr. Mohammad Farhan serves as an Assistant Professor at the College of Health and Life Sciences, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, where he has established himself as a leading behavioral neuroscientist. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology and Savitribai Phule Pune University, preceded by an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from Jamia Hamdard, Delhi, and a B.Sc. from Aligarh Muslim University. His research expertise spans multiple areas including Drosophila behavior, human genetics in neurodevelopmental disorders, and computational drug modeling. Before joining HBKU in 2018, he held prestigious positions at Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore, the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research, and completed postdoctoral research at Oxford University's Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics. His work has been published in high-impact journals including Neuron, Current Biology, and PLOS Biology, with significant contributions to understanding autism through Drosophila modeling. Dr. Farhan has secured substantial research funding totaling USD 1.37 million and currently leads several major research projects focusing on neurodevelopmental disorders, anxiety pathways, and behavioral genetics. His research interests include monoamines in defensive behaviors, optogenetic control of feeding behavior, and the molecular mechanisms of gut-brain axis interaction.
