Dr. José Antonio Pow Sang Portillo serves as a Principal Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), where he has made significant contributions to both computer science education and software engineering research. His impressive academic credentials include dual PhDs in Computer Engineering and Engineering through a joint program between PUCP and the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), complemented by a Master's in Software Engineering from UPM and degrees in Computer Engineering and Education from PUCP. His leadership roles include serving as Director of the Institute of University Teaching (since 2023), Director of the Master's in Computer Science program (2011-2024), and Executive Director of the Graduate School (2013-2020). His expertise in academic accreditation is demonstrated through his work with ICACIT, ABET, and CEAB during his tenure as Computer Engineering specialty coordinator. As a two-term president of the IEEE Computer Society's Peruvian Section (2015-2018), he has significantly influenced the development of computer science education in Latin America, particularly through his representation in the Alfa Tuning Latin America project. His research focuses on empirical software engineering, software metrics, engineering education, and human-computer interaction, with over 1,000 citations to his published works.
