Emma C. Gordon is a Lecturer in Applied Ethics in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Glasgow, where she also serves as Head of Interdisciplinary Research at the COGITO Epistemology Research Centre and a steering committee member of the Centre for Neurotechnology. Previously, she held positions as a Research Fellow at COGITO and the Eidyn Research Centre at the University of Edinburgh. Her research primarily focuses on applied ethics, including bioethics, neuroethics (with a special interest in the ethics of neurotechnology), medical ethics, and the ethics of gender and race. She is also interested in normative ethics, particularly in moral psychology, the philosophy of love, trust, emotions, and wellbeing. Additionally, her epistemological work explores topics such as understanding, social epistemology, intellectual virtues and vices, and assertion. Her interdisciplinary approach often merges philosophy with fields such as medicine (including pharmacology, dependence, and addiction) and psychology (including counselling and psychotherapy).
