University of British ColumbiaEmilie Joos is a distinguished trauma surgeon and medical educator serving as Clinical Associate Professor and Associate Medical Director of the Branch for Global Surgical Care at the University of British Columbia. After completing her M.D.C.M at McGill University and general surgery residency at Laval University, she specialized in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at USC/LA County Hospital. Since joining Vancouver General Hospital's trauma team in 2014, she has established herself as a leading figure in trauma care and global surgery. Her commitment to global health is evidenced by her Masters in Global Health Policy from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, extensive work with Médecins Sans Frontières in Sub-Saharan Africa, and Emergency Response Unit training with the Canadian Red Cross.
