Her academic foundation includes a PhD in Political Science and International Relations from Koç University, Istanbul. Her research has made significant contributions to understanding energy security and environmental governance, particularly evident in her highly-cited work on natural gas and civil conflict, and studies on climate change in the GCC region. She has authored influential publications on energy transition, nuclear energy policy, and sustainable development, with her work appearing in prestigious journals such as Energy Research & Social Science. Her professional experience includes positions at IFRI Center for Energy in Paris and involvement with the EU Horizon 2020 Project FEUTURE. Dr. Sever Mehmetoglu has received numerous accolades, including the Young Visiting Researcher Fellowship from the Embassy of France, The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey Scholarship, and the KUTEM 2020 Best Energy Paper of the Year Award.
