Dr. Denise Comer

Denise Comer is an Assistant Professor of the Practice of Writing Studies and the Director of First-Year Writing at Duke University, bringing over fifteen years of experience in teaching first-year writing students the strategies, confidence, and skills necessary for success both in academia and beyond. Her leadership and innovative course design have significantly contributed to Duke University's Thompson Writing Program, earning national recognition with the 2006 CCCC Writing Program Certificate of Excellence and commendation from the 2012 U.S. News & World Report for prioritizing the writing process across all levels of instruction.
