Advancing Solar Energy Research at Hamad Bin Khalifa University
Dr. Amir Abdallah is a prominent scientist at the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) within Hamad Bin Khalifa University, where he focuses on enhancing photovoltaic (PV) technology and solar energy solutions. He holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Delft University of Technology and a PhD in Material Science from Eindhoven University of Technology. With extensive industrial experience in the fabrication and optimization of silicon solar cells, Dr. Abdallah has made significant contributions to the field, particularly in improving the performance and reliability of PV modules for desert environments. His current projects involve establishing an indoor testing laboratory and developing new testing standards tailored for harsh climatic conditions. As a lead principal investigator, he has secured funding for innovative research aimed at advancing silicon heterojunction solar cells by minimizing parasitic absorption and enhancing temperature coefficients. Dr. Abdallah's work not only addresses critical challenges in solar energy but also contributes to Qatar's broader goals of sustainability and energy efficiency.
