Abas holds a PhD in Marketing from Macquarie University, Sydney, with a specialization in branding. His research has been published in esteemed journals such as the Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Brand Management, and Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services. He introduced innovative metrics like the Brand Health Index (BHI) and the Behavioral Brand Evaluation Typology, alongside concepts like Advertising Spending Diets. Abas is a recipient of the Best Paper Award from the ANZMAC Conference and his research interests encompass brand management, brand health, customer equity, marketing accountability, and branding communications.
