Dr. Domingo Mery serves as Vice Dean for Research and Innovation at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile's School of Engineering, where he has established himself as a leading authority in computer vision and X-ray imaging. His academic journey includes an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Karlsruhe and a Ph.D. with distinction from the Technical University of Berlin, both supported by prestigious scholarships from the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation and DAAD. His research portfolio includes groundbreaking work in automated flaw detection, biometrics, and food engineering, with over 60 SCI publications and 70 conference papers. His expertise spans multiple domains, including X-ray testing, computer vision, and pattern recognition, earning him multiple Ron Halmshaw Awards for excellence in industrial radiography. As an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Information, Forensics and Security and editor of the I3 Journal, he continues to shape the field of computer vision and imaging technology. His leadership roles include serving as Department Chair (2005-2009), Local Co-Chair of ICCV2015, and program chair for multiple international conferences, while maintaining active research collaborations with institutions worldwide, including a visiting professorship at the University of Notre Dame's Computer Vision Research Lab
