SDG AcademyDr. Do-Hyun Han is a distinguished Professor of Sociology at the Academy of Korean Studies, where he has served in several leadership roles including Dean for Research and Director of the Jangseogak Archives. After earning his PhD in sociology from Seoul National University in 1992, he has built an impressive career spanning community development, social history, and comparative studies of Asian community traditions. His expertise has been recognized through visiting scholar positions at prestigious institutions including Harvard University, Graduate Institute Geneva, Bologna University, and East China Normal University. As an advisor to the Global Saemaul Movement and the Ministry of Home Affairs, he has significantly influenced community-driven development initiatives. His scholarly work includes leading a three-year international research project on community traditions across Korea, China, and Vietnam, while also contributing to Korea's Official Development Assistance program. Currently heading international research on reciprocity and cooperation at the Academy of Korean Studies, he has shared his expertise through lectures at major institutions including the World Bank Institute, Asian Development Bank, and OECD. His notable publications include "The Saemaul Movement: A Sourcebook" (2015) and several works on civic community and voluntary associations, establishing him as a leading voice in Asian community development studies.
