Delft University of TechnologyDirk Sijmons (1949) is a renowned landscape architect and founding member of H+N+S Landscape Architects, where he led regional planning and research projects. His illustrious career includes serving as the Netherlands' first State Landscape Architect (2004-2008) and holding prestigious academic positions at TU Delft as chair of Environmental Design (2008-2011) and Landscape Architecture (2011-2015). His early career included significant roles at the Ministry of CRM's nature conservation directorate and the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Management and Fisheries, followed by leadership of the Landscape Architecture department at the Forestry Commission. His contributions to the field have earned him numerous accolades, including the Prince Bernard Culture award (2001), Rotterdam-Maaskant award (2002), Edgar Doncker award (2007), and the Global IFLA Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe award (2017).
