Dhruv Bhate

Dhruv Bhate is an Associate Professor at Arizona State University (ASU) in the School of Manufacturing Systems and Networks, where he leads a research group focused on the design and mechanics of additive manufacturing structures and materials. His work emphasizes bio-inspired design, architected materials, and advanced additive manufacturing techniques. Before joining ASU, Dhruv spent two years at PADT Inc., directing research and development in additive manufacturing, and he previously worked for seven years at Intel, where he developed laser-based manufacturing processes from concept to high-volume production. His early career included a co-op apprenticeship at Tata Motors in the automotive sector. Dr. Bhate earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, where he created models to predict fatigue fracture in ductile metal alloys, and holds a master's degree from the University of Colorado Boulder focused on adhesion phenomena in microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). His interdisciplinary approach combines theoretical, experimental, and simulation methods to tackle complex research challenges in manufacturing.
