ETH ZurichDetlef Günther is a prominent professor at ETH Zurich, currently serving as the Vice President for Research and Corporate Relations since January 2015. He joined ETH Zurich in 1998 as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2003, eventually becoming a full Professor for Trace Element and Micro Analysis in 2008. Günther's research focuses on trace element characterization using advanced techniques such as Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) and Laser Ablation-ICP-MS (LA-ICP-MS). His work has significantly contributed to the understanding of transport processes of laser-induced aerosols and the development of new sample introduction systems for nanoparticles, enhancing detection capabilities for trace elements in various samples.
