Dr. Denis Parra serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC Chile), where he leads groundbreaking research in human-centered artificial intelligence and recommender systems. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh, where he studied under Professor Peter Brusilovsky and earned a Fulbright scholarship. At PUC Chile, he directs the Human-centered AI and Visualization (HAIVis) Lab and co-leads the CreativAI Lab, focusing on recommender systems, intelligent user interfaces, and applications of machine learning in medical imaging and creative AI. His research has earned multiple accolades, including best paper awards at prestigious conferences like ACM IUI. As a principal researcher at the Millennium Institute on Intelligent Healthcare Engineering and the National Center for Artificial Intelligence Research, he contributes significantly to advancing AI applications in healthcare. His work on interactive recommender systems and visualization techniques has been widely cited, establishing him as a leading figure in the field of human-computer interaction and personalized systems.
