The National University of SingaporeDr. Delphine Pagès-El Karoui serves as a Senior Lecturer in Geography at INALCO (National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations) and is affiliated with CERMOM (Center for Mediterranean Middle East Studies). A graduate of ENS Fontenay-St Cloud with an agrégation qualification and Arabic language proficiency, her research portfolio spans Egyptian migrations, urban studies, and Middle Eastern geopolitics. Her work examines transnational networks, diasporas, and migration imaginaries through literature and cinema, with particular focus on Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and France. She has made significant contributions to understanding the spatial dimensions of Arab revolutions and cosmopolitanism in Gulf cities, co-editing influential works such as "Les ondes de choc des révolutions arabes" and publishing extensively on migration patterns and social change in Egypt. As coordinator of the "Imaginaires Migratoires" research project with Stéphane Sawas, she explores cinematic and literary representations of migration. Her expertise extends to urban cosmopolitanism and global cities, evidenced by her co-editorship of several international volumes and organization of major conferences on migration and urban diversity. Currently, she also serves as a strategic advisor for the French Ministry of Higher Education's Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, focusing on cities, migration, and Middle East issues.
