The World Bank GroupDavid Lawrence serves as the communications lead for the Quality Infrastructure Investment Partnership, a collaborative initiative between the World Bank and the Japanese government. His three-decade career spans both operations and communications roles across international development. As a Senior Operations Officer with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), he pioneered development programs across the former Soviet Union, establishing IFC's first offices in Tbilisi, Georgia, and Yerevan, Armenia, and serving as the first Resident Representative to Mongolia. He later managed IFC's office in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, following the 2004 tsunami. In his current role as a communications consultant for the World Bank Group, Lawrence produces influential content on post-disaster reconstruction, infrastructure, public-private partnerships, and small business development. His work includes significant contributions to IFC Insights and numerous World Bank publications, including "The Power of Partnerships: The Multi Donor Fund in Post-disaster Aceh and Nias." A dual national of Canada and the United States with permanent residency in Ukraine, Lawrence holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and brings his extensive field experience to shape strategic communications for development initiatives.
