Distinguished Leadership in ESL Education and Academic Publishing
Daphne Mackey combines her roles as an instructor at the University of Washington's English Language Programs and a prolific ESL textbook author, having authored sixteen ESL textbooks throughout her career. Her academic credentials include both an M.Ed. and MBA from Boston University, where she began her teaching career at the Center for English Language Programs (CELOP) for nine years. Her three-decade tenure at the University of Washington's English Language Programs has been complemented by teaching experiences in the MBA program at Pacific Lutheran University and conducting corporate training in multicultural and global team management for northwest companies. As a Department Affiliate at UW, she specializes in business English and professional communication, teaching courses in the Professional Certificate in English for Business Networking program. Her expertise extends beyond traditional classroom teaching to developing comprehensive ESL curricula and materials that are used worldwide. When not teaching or writing, Mackey enjoys sailing and hiking with her family, maintaining a balance between her professional achievements and personal interests.
