Daniel Sabanés Bové has established himself as a leader in statistical engineering and biostatistics, combining academic expertise with industry experience. After completing his PhD in Bayesian model selection in 2013, he began his career at Roche as a biostatistician, later gaining valuable experience as a data scientist at Google before returning to Roche. Currently, he leads the Statistical Engineering team within Data Science Acceleration at Roche, focusing on developing R packages, Shiny modules, and templates for data scientists. His academic contributions include co-authoring the book "Likelihood and Bayesian Inference: With Applications in Biology and Medicine" and developing multiple R packages published on CRAN and Bioconductor, including crmPack for dose escalation designs. As chair of the ASA BIOP Software Engineering Working Group, he advocates for better software engineering practices in biostatistics. His work bridges the gap between statistical theory and practical implementation, promoting robust software development practices in the biostatistics community.
