Seoul National UniversityDain Yoo has built an impressive academic career spanning political violence, authoritarian resilience, and public opinion research. After completing her BA in Arabic and Political Science from Binghamton University, she earned her MA in International Relations from Seoul National University, where she also served as a Teaching Assistant. Currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Government at Georgetown University, her research focuses on the intersection of political violence, authoritarian resilience, and public opinion, with particular emphasis on the Middle East and North Africa region. Her work has been published in prestigious journals including International Interactions and Democratization, examining topics such as terrorism's impact on shadow economies and the relationship between regime types and political violence. Her dissertation project, "Between Two Terrors: Anti-Terrorism Law, Political Framing, and Popular Support in Nondemocracies," investigates how framing of targeted repression influences public support for repressive policies in nondemocratic contexts.
