Cynthia A. Tysick

Cynthia A. Tysick is a dedicated leader in library and information services, currently serving as the Head of Education Services at The State University of New York. With a strong passion for information literacy, Cynthia is committed to helping students, faculty, and staff develop the skills needed to navigate and critically engage with information in today’s complex, digital world. Her leadership in the Education Services department focuses on creating resources and programs that empower individuals to become adept at evaluating, utilizing, and managing information across various platforms and disciplines.In her role, Cynthia oversees a range of educational initiatives aimed at enhancing information literacy across the university. She is particularly involved in the development and teaching of core courses such as Advanced Information Literacy, Basic Information Literacy, and Digital Information Literacy. These courses are designed to support students at various stages of their academic careers, providing them with the tools to conduct thorough, ethical research, critically assess digital resources, and apply information effectively in their studies and beyond.Cynthia’s expertise extends to developing strategies for information literacy instruction that integrate both traditional research skills and modern digital practices.
