Distinguished Dental Scholar and Global Leader in Preventive Dentistry
Professor Chun-Hung Chu serves as Chair Professor and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at The University of Hong Kong, where he has established himself as a leading authority in preventive and community dentistry. His extensive academic credentials include BDS, PDipDS, MDS, and Ph.D. from HKU, complemented by prestigious fellowships from international institutions including the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. His leadership extends across multiple professional organizations, serving as President of both the Society of Preventive Dentistry of Hong Kong and the Asia Academy of Preventive Dentistry (2021-2023), while maintaining influential positions on the FDI Public Health Committee and as Vice President of the Asian-Oceanian Federation of Conservative Dentistry. His research impact is evidenced by a Scopus h-index of 40 and his role as chief editor for multiple prestigious dental journals. Before joining academia full-time in 2007, he practiced comprehensive dentistry for 15 years as dental surgeon in charge of HKU Health Service. His contributions to dentistry have been recognized through numerous awards, including the prestigious Lifelong Learning & Service Recognition award from the Academy of General Dentistry in 2015, while his current work focuses on advancing preventive dentistry education and research across Asia
