École Polytechnique Fédérale de LausanneChristian Theiler is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Plasma Physics at EPFL, specializing in experimental edge and divertor physics. He completed his master's degree in physics at ETH Zurich before earning his Ph.D. from EPFL. His academic journey included a two-year postdoctoral position at MIT's Alcator C-Mod tokamak, followed by a return to EPFL as a EUROfusion fellow. In July 2016, he was appointed to his current position. At EPFL, he teaches Plasma Physics I, a comprehensive course covering collisional phenomena, transport in plasmas, waves in magnetized plasmas, and wave-particle interactions. His research primarily focuses on the TCV tokamak, investigating plasma edge physics and divertor operations. Theiler contributes to both undergraduate and graduate education, teaching fundamental concepts of plasma fluid and kinetic theory while maintaining an active research program in experimental fusion physics.
