Urban Mobility Expert Advancing Sustainable Transportation Planning

Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyChris Zegras serves as Professor of Mobility and Urban Planning and Department Head of MIT's Department of Urban Studies and Planning, where he leads research and teaching initiatives in sustainable urban transportation. His research focuses on three interconnected areas critical to addressing metropolitan mobility challenges: understanding human behavior in relation to built, social, and natural environments; leveraging digitalization to deepen understanding of urban dynamics; and developing strategic planning techniques for improved mobility policies and interventions. As Principal Investigator in the Future Urban Mobility research group, sponsored by the Singapore MIT Alliance for Research and Technology, he works to advance innovative solutions for urban transportation challenges. His teaching portfolio includes comprehensive courses in integrated land use-transportation planning, quantitative methods, and transportation finance. Through his leadership and research, he continues to shape the future of urban mobility while developing new approaches to support mobility planning and policy implementation.
