SDG AcademyProf. Dr. Byoung-Joo Kim has established himself as a multifaceted expert bridging academia, diplomacy, and consulting, currently serving as a Visiting Professor at the KDI School of Public Policy and Management. His academic foundation includes a PhD in Political Science from MIT and a BA with Honors in Economics, Political Science and International Relations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His career spans significant roles including Policy Counsellor and Special Assistant to two Korean Trade Ministers, and registered foreign trade lobbyist in Washington, D.C., where he began his career as a consultant researcher at the World Bank specializing in East Asian development. Since 2003, he has led Kim, Lee & Partners (KL&P), advising international corporations and government organizations on political-economic and policy-regulatory affairs. His academic contributions include nearly two decades of teaching at leading Korean institutions, including Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, where he focuses on the politics of development, democracy, participation, and institution building in the global context. At KDI School, he brings his extensive practical and theoretical expertise to courses in international relations and political science, contributing to the institution's reputation as a premier policy education center.
