Curtin UniversityBryan Maybee is a distinguished Associate Professor and Discipline Lead for Minerals and Energy Economics at Curtin University's Western Australian School of Mines. His extensive expertise spans project evaluation, risk management, and tax administration within the resources sector. As a Mineral Economist and Mine Planning Engineer, he has made significant contributions to improving strategic decision-making processes in the mining industry. His academic credentials include a PhD in Natural Resources Engineering from Laurentian University and an MBA specializing in Finance and Accounting from Dalhousie University. Prior to his current role, he held significant positions including Financial Officer and Research Associate in Mine Planning at MIRARCO – Mining Innovation, a Canadian mining research organization. Currently, he leads the Risk, Evaluation and Planning program in the Cooperative Research Centre for Transformations in Mining Economies, where he develops innovative tools and methodologies for mine planning and strategic decision-making. His global influence extends through his role as a World Bank consultant, particularly on matters related to mineral project taxation in Africa, and his membership in the MRIWA College of Experts.
