The University of EdinburghBruce Worton is a Reader in Statistics at the University of Edinburgh, where he currently serves as Deputy Director of Teaching in the School of Mathematics. His academic journey includes positions as a lecturer at the University of Essex (1991-1995) and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Oxford (1989-1991), following his PhD in Statistics from the University of Kent. With over 30 years as a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and membership in the International Biometric Society, Worton has made significant contributions to statistical education and research. He served as Director of Statistics MSc programmes for a decade until December 2020 and was an Examiner for the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries' professional examinations from 2000 onwards, specializing in Statistical Modelling and Probability. His research interests span applied statistics and related numerical methods, with particular focus on statistical modeling, entomology applications, and robust statistical measures. Worton maintains strong connections with Edinburgh statistics graduates and actively engages with current developments in statistical practice.
