Dr. Brian Rountree is a tenured Associate Professor of Accounting at the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University, where he has been a faculty member since 2003. He earned his Ph.D. in accounting from the University of North Carolina in 2003 and holds a bachelor's degree in accounting (summa cum laude) from Babson College, where he was also the valedictorian of his class. Rountree teaches various accounting courses across all MBA programs at Rice and has received multiple teaching awards for his contributions to education.His research primarily focuses on how external forces influence financial reporting choices and characteristics within firms. Dr. Rountree's work has been published in leading academic journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Financial Economics, and Journal of Business, Finance, and Accounting. He serves as an editor for the Journal of Business, Finance, and Accounting and is part of the Editorial Advisory Board for The Accounting Review. An active member of the American Accounting Association, he frequently presents his research at international conferences and has consulted with various organizations on accounting-related issues. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a public accountant at Price Waterhouse in Boston, Massachusetts.
