Veteran Telecommunications Executive and Former U.S. Diplomat

Georgetown UniversityWilliam (Bill) Plummer serves as Vice President of External Affairs at Huawei's North American organization, bringing over 20 years of telecommunications industry expertise. After graduating from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, he began his career as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer from 1990 to 1997, serving in the Office of the Under Secretary for Business Affairs, Office of Multilateral Trade, and the U.S. diplomatic mission to Ecuador. Before joining Huawei in 2010, he spent 12 years in senior management positions at Nokia, including Vice President of Sales and Go to Market Americas, and Vice President of Nokia North America Multimedia Business Group. His extensive industry involvement includes board memberships with the Telecommunications Industry Association, Electronic Industries Alliance, Finnish-American Chamber of Commerce, and serving on the State Department's Advisory Committee on International Communications and Information Policy. At Huawei, he leads interactions with the Federal government, national media, and key stakeholders, drawing on his unique combination of diplomatic and corporate experience.
