Dr. Bernice Alston is the inaugural Director of the Student Success Center at Duke University School of Nursing, a position she has held since September 2021. With over a decade of experience in higher education, she leads a team that provides essential services such as learning consultations, tutoring, career coaching, and wellness support for students. Dr. Alston also oversees the Stress First Aid training program and serves as the school's Disability Services Liaison. She earned her BA in Mass Communication from North Carolina Central University, an MA in Organizational Communication from Bowie State University, and a PhD in Higher Education from Morgan State University. Prior to her role at Duke, she was the Director of Academic Support Services at Campbell University, where she implemented various academic support initiatives. In addition to her administrative duties, Dr. Alston teaches an online course titled "Stress First Aid for Healthcare Workers: A Peer Support Tool" on Coursera, reflecting her commitment to enhancing student well-being and success.
