Distinguished Mathematics Educator and AP Calculus Leader

Davidson NextBen Klein served as Dolan Professor of Mathematics at Davidson College from 1971 until his retirement in 2008, earning his MA and PhD from Yale University. His extensive career includes chairing both the Mathematics Department and the Teacher Education Committee. Beyond his teaching duties, which encompassed nearly every undergraduate mathematics course offered, he made significant contributions to mathematics education through his involvement with the Advanced Placement Calculus program since 1991. His AP service includes roles as Reader, Table Leader, and Question Leader, as well as membership on the AP Calculus Development Committee (1999-2003). His leadership in mathematics education extended to the Mathematical Association of America, where he served as Chair of the Southeastern Section and on the national Board of Governors. Though retired from full-time teaching, he continues to contribute to mathematics education through part-time teaching at Davidson College.
