Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyBarbara Dyer serves as a Senior Lecturer at MIT Sloan School of Management and Executive Director of the Good Companies, Good Jobs Initiative, where she focuses on the intersection of people, profit, and technology. Her distinguished career spans leadership roles in public policy, philanthropy, and academia, including serving as president and CEO of The Hitachi Foundation, where she significantly influenced business's role in society. Her extensive public service experience includes positions as special assistant to the Secretary of the Interior, director of policy studies with the Council of Governors' Policy Advisors, and founding director of the National Academy of Public Administration's Alliance for Redesigning Government. Earlier in her career, she demonstrated commitment to education innovation as a teacher in Worcester, Massachusetts, helping launch an experimental school within a public high school. A graduate of Clark University and the Kennedy School of Government's Program for Senior Executives, she co-founded the National Fund for Workforce Solutions and served on Clark University's board of trustees. Through her work at MIT's Institute for Work and Employment Research, she continues to facilitate cross-fertilization of ideas about making work effective for everyone in the 21st century, while earning recognition for her contributions to workforce development and public policy.
