Dr. Arunachala Nadar Mada Kannan is a Professor in the Polytechnic School of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University, specializing in low-temperature fuel cells and lithium-ion batteries for both automotive and stationary applications. He earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in 1990, focusing on metal/air batteries and alkaline fuel cells. Before joining ASU in 2005, Dr. Kannan served as Chief Scientist at Hoku Scientific, Inc., where he played a pivotal role in designing and developing fuel cells for electric vehicles. With over 30 years of experience in battery and fuel cell research, he has published extensively and frequently presents at national and international conferences. Dr. Kannan is also an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy and serves as Chief Scientist at Zero Electric Vehicles (ZEV), where he focuses on developing efficient battery systems for advanced vehicle platforms. His contributions to the field are instrumental in advancing renewable energy technologies and enhancing the performance of energy storage systems.
