Delft University of TechnologyArnout Sabbe serves as a doctoral researcher at TU Delft's Chair of Environmental Technology and Design in the Department of Urbanism, where he investigates the relationship between large-scale infrastructure developments and metabolic stocks and flows. After completing his degrees in Architecture and Urbanism and Spatial Planning with distinction at the University of Antwerp, he wrote his dissertation on urban metabolism flows in Singapore in collaboration with ETH Zurich and the National University of Singapore. His professional experience includes positions at the Future Cities Laboratory in Singapore, Urban-Think Tank in Zurich, and the Organization for Permanent Modernity in Brussels, where he was part of the core team leading a €1.25 billion design competition for Antwerp's ring road redevelopment. Currently, his research focuses on expanding the concept of urban metabolism to planetary metabolism while working on CINDERELA, a Horizon 2020 project developing circular business models for sustainable urban construction. He contributes to academic discourse through publications on European waste statistics and circular economy monitoring, particularly focusing on the Amsterdam Metropolitan Region.
