Wageningen University & ResearchDr. Arnab Gupta serves as Seed Systems Advisor and Data Steward at Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation, where he brings over 16 years of international experience in seed sector transformation and digital innovation. After completing his PhD in Seed Science and Technology from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, he has built an impressive career spanning multiple continents and organizations including Bioversity International (CGIAR) and Incotec. His work focuses on advancing digital transformation in seed systems, particularly in quality assurance, laboratory establishment, and capacity building across Asia, Africa, and Europe. As lead developer of SeedSAGE (Seed System Analysis and Guidance Engine), he pioneers digital solutions for seed systems resilience assessment in crisis-affected regions. Through his roles in implementing Integrated Seed Sector Development projects in Myanmar, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Nigeria, he continues to advance sustainable seed systems while developing innovative digital tools for the agricultural sector. His expertise particularly shines in combining seed science with digital innovation, demonstrated through his work on seed demand forecasting systems and quality assurance mechanisms. Currently leading strategic initiatives in seed systems at WCDI, he contributes to course development and implementation while advancing the digital transformation of agricultural systems through AI-enabled tools and platforms
