Delft University of TechnologyArmin Lohrengel currently serves as a Professor and Director of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Clausthal, where he holds the Chair of Machine Elements and Design Theory. His academic journey began with studies in mechanical engineering at TU Clausthal and RWTH Aachen, followed by a position as a scientific assistant at RWTH Aachen's Chair of Machine Elements and Machine Design, where he completed his doctorate in 2001 focusing on life-oriented dimensioning of clutches. Before joining academia, he gained valuable industry experience as the Director of Machine Development at Paul Hartmann AG from 1999 to 2006. Since his appointment in 2007, he has been actively involved in research focusing on machine elements, particularly pressure comb bearings, couplings, rope drives, and shaft-hub connections. As Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics/Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering, he contributes significantly to academic leadership while teaching courses in machine elements, machine acoustics, development methodology, and resource-efficient product development. His expertise extends to process engineering machines, particularly for production and recycling processes, and construction theory with emphasis on acoustics and circular economy, making him a key figure in both educational and research initiatives at TU Clausthal.
