Anupama Ray

Dr. Anupama Ray serves as Advisory Research Scientist at IBM Research India, where she has established herself as a leading expert in quantum computing and natural language processing. After completing her PhD from IIT Delhi focusing on deep recurrent neural networks for document analysis and computer vision, she has built an impressive career spanning multiple cutting-edge areas. Her work at IBM Research encompasses developing NLP systems for low-resource languages, domain-independent information extraction, and natural language generation, while her current focus lies in quantum machine learning and quantum applications in finance. As an IBM Quantum Technical Ambassador and Qiskit Advocate, she contributes significantly to advancing quantum computing education and research. Her academic impact is evidenced through numerous publications in top-tier conferences and journals, earning her several best paper awards. Her excellence has been recognized through prestigious honors including the IEEE Best Woman Professional (Early Career) award, Technology Rising Star award, and multiple IBM Research accolades such as the Research Division Award and Outstanding Technical Achievement Award. Beyond her research, she actively engages with the scientific community as a member of IEEE, AAAI, and the Society of Women Engineers India, while also serving as an instructor for the NPTEL Quantum Computing Course in collaboration with IIT Madras.
