The International Monetary FundAntonio David is a Senior Economist in the Western Hemisphere Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), with extensive experience across multiple IMF departments. Previously, he worked in the IMF's Institute for Capacity Development and the African Department, where he participated in missions to Botswana, Comoros, Mauritius, and Togo. Before joining the IMF, David was an economist at the World Bank and taught at the University of Essex in England. A Brazilian national, he holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on various aspects of international macroeconomics and economic development, with particular emphasis on fiscal policy, structural reforms, and inclusive growth. David has authored numerous influential IMF working papers and publications on topics such as fiscal consolidation, labor markets in Latin America, and the macroeconomic effects of structural reforms. He currently serves as Deputy Division Chief in the IMF's African Department and Mission Chief for Niger, where he leads economic program reviews and policy discussions. His work combines rigorous academic research with practical policy applications, contributing significantly to the IMF's efforts in promoting economic stability and growth in developing economies.
