Professor Anthony P. D'Costa has been the Chair of Contemporary Indian Studies at the University of Melbourne and the Australia India Institute since May 2013. Before this role, he served as the Research Director at the Asia Research Centre at Copenhagen Business School and spent 18 years at the University of Washington. His extensive research focuses on the political economy of industries such as steel, automobiles, and IT, addressing themes like globalization, development, innovation, and industrial restructuring. Among his eight books, he co-edited Transformation and Development: The Political Economy of Transition in India and China and edited A New India? Critical Reflections in the Long Twentieth Century. Currently, he is investigating globalization and the international mobility of IT workers. Professor D'Costa has been a fellow of several prestigious organizations, including the American Institute of Indian Studies and Fulbright-Hays.
