Dr. Anne-Marie Truscott de Mejía served as Professor at the University of the Andes' Faculty of Education for 13 years until 2018, where she directed both the Doctoral Program in Education and the Research Group "Education for Bilingualism and Multilingualism." Her Ph.D. in Linguistics with focus on Bilingual Education from Lancaster University established her as a leading expert in bilingual education. Her research interests span bilingual classroom interaction, bilingual curriculum development, language education policy, and bilingual teacher training. Her significant publications include "Forging multilingual spaces" (2008) and "Empowering teachers across cultures" (2011) with Christine Hélot, and "Bilinguismo no contexto colombiano" (2011) with Alexis López and Beatriz Peña Dix. Through her Coursera course "Compreender as dimensões interculturais na vida cotidiana," she helps students understand intercultural dimensions in daily life. Her work has significantly influenced bilingual education policy and practice across Latin America, particularly in Colombia, where she has contributed to understanding bilingualism in majority language contexts.
