The University of Hong KongAnne Kruger is an accomplished media professional who has transitioned from a distinguished broadcasting career to becoming a leader in digital media education and misinformation research. Her two-decade journalism career includes prominent roles as a news anchor at CNN International during SARS, finance presenter at Bloomberg TV, and a flagship news anchor at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation where she presented Landline and ABC News Breakfast. She later served as Assistant Professor of Practice and Head of Digital Broadcast at the University of Hong Kong's Journalism and Media Studies Centre, where she founded the Cyber News Verification Lab, the first of its kind in Asia. Currently serving as Director of CrossCheck at RMIT University, she leads collaborative research on navigating complex digital information landscapes, including deep fakes and AI. Her expertise has earned her significant appointments, including Chair and Complaints Subcommittee Board Member for Australia's Misinformation and Disinformation Regulatory Code of Practice, and she was awarded the 2021 UNESCO International Programme for the Development of Communication grant for her work in verification and responsible reporting in Southeast Asia.
