SDG AcademyDr. Andy Sumner is a distinguished Professor of International Development at King's College London and current President of the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes. With two decades of international research experience, he has established himself as a pioneering voice in development studies, particularly focusing on economic development and inequality dynamics in developing countries and Southeast Asia. His scholarly contributions include 15 books and over 100 academic publications, with recent works such as "Great Gatsby and the Global South" (2023) and "The Developer's Dilemma" (2022). His expertise has earned him fellowships in prestigious institutions including the Academy of Social Sciences and the Royal Society of Arts, alongside visiting professorships at Padjadjaran University and research associations with Oxford University. In 2012, he co-founded King's College London's International Development Institute, which later became the Department of International Development.
